Philip Miles (bandleader) is a leading Piano Accordionist who been playing folk music from the age of six, and now leads his own professional ceilidh band. Starting in Manchester in 2009, with a ceilidh band he founded called 'Lazaros', he's gathered much experience playing across England in many of the UK's leading ceilidh bands including, The Ship Band, Ceilidh Tree, Ceili Max and Bowreed. Miles Ceilidh Band has now been playing mainly around London and the South East area since 2013 with all London's top professional folk musicians! If you book Miles Ceilidh Band, you are booking a highly experienced professional band and you won't be disappointed! We will also provide our own pa, included in the fee. Our line up usually consists of fiddle, accordion and guitar, although occasionally we tweek this according to the needs of clients, such as using piano keyboard instead of guitar, or adding an Irish flute, drum kit, bass or bodhran player!

We really enjoyed the band. They brought a happy energy to the evening and made everyone feel able to join in with the ceilidh. The band leader (not Miles), arrived in good time and was clear about the last minute change of musicians. He and the band did a great job. Our only niggle is over some of the dances. They were not all ‘main stream Scottish ceilidh’; American Barn dance & Flying Scotsman? Also the shortened version of the Strip the willow was a bit disappointing. We understand that the band had to manage a mixed and full crowd and space was limited. We really appreciated the band doing an accompaniment to a song at the end and the final piping for the cake. Overall 5 stars for fun, great energy, clear dance calling and going with the flow of the evening. Thanks Katherine and George
