I am an experienced instrumental musician and teacher, specialising in clarinet and saxophone, which I studied with Paul Orton at Leeds University. I have many years teaching and performing experience and regularly participate in concerts and musical productions. I have conducted and coached bands, orchestras, jazz bands and chamber ensembles for the whole of my career and currently run the Malvern Big Band. I also play regularly in several ensembles, including the Chandos Symphony Orchestra. I organise and play in chamber music concerts and have most recently performed Mendelssohn's concert pieces and Krommer's concerti for two clarinets, with a duetting partner. A particular challenge in a concert last year was a virtuosic arrangement of Bach's Toccata and Fugue for two bass clarinets. I compose and arrange music and have been Musical Director for many school productions (Return to the Forbidden Planet, Aladdin, Jungle Book, Pantomime Pandemonium, The Tempest, Treasure Island and many more) including leading from the keyboard or clarinet.
