About Midnight Hoboes

We're the guys to call when you want a band to play songs you know and love, songs you can't help dancing and singing along to!
Cover band
Peterborough
Public liability insurance of £1 million

Although Midnight Hoboes is a relatively new band, we (Robin and Steve) have performed together in various bands for the last 10 years, and as individual solo artists across the UK for over 40 years, including performing at high profile events with acts such as the Three Degrees and Toyah Wilcox. We decided it was time we formed a new band with us in charge, so with a little additional help in the shape of bass guitar and drums for bigger gigs/venues, the Midnight Hoboes have arrived! The name “Midnight Hoboes” came to us very easily – as working musicians, we’re always driving home around midnight - we travel all the time. We’ll play anywhere in the world for you, just ask!

Guys, put simply, you were great! The music was terrific, but what we really loved was the way you got everyone involved, singing along with you, taking requests and generally making sure we all had a great time. You're back again in August and we can't wait!

Hi Steve and Robin, I just wanted to say thanks for a great gig you did for us on Sunday at the Falcon. Everyone said how much they enjoyed your music, and the banter too! You advertise as performers of banging tunes, and that's what we got, all afternoon. We'll definitely be having you boys back later in the year. Thanks again Sharon

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They tell us they love our music and our musicianship, and the banter between us and the audience.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Robin and Steve have performed at all levels in Theatres, Pubs, Clubs, Festivals and private events all over the UK, performing to small intimate audiences right up to crowds of many thousands.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

People like Pink Floyd, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles. But we just love good music, any good music.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

That would be when we played with Toyah Wilcox in Peterborough a few years ago.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Absolutely! Robin and Steve are the Midnight Hoboes, and we share the Lead Vocal duties. We may have different people on Cajon/drums or bass guitar, but the core of the band is the two of us.

Do you have different line-up options?

Midnight Hoboes are Robin Brisley and Steve Gibbs, who both sing and play guitar. We normally hire a drummer (or cajon player) for our gigs, hence we advertise ourselves as a three-piece. For smaller venues or if noise is an issue, we can perform as a duo - drums are noisy! Or, for a big sound at larger gigs we add a bass player too, making us a four piece!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

If required, at no extra charge we can play popular tunes before/in-between the band sets. Alternatively, if you have a laptop, Ipod, phone etc. with music on it we can use that. We can also offer a DJ service after our performance up until your venue closes, but we'll need to be there longer so there is an extra charge for this service.

How much time do you need to set up?

Usually we require around an hour to set up all of our equipment and perform a sound check to make sure everything is working as expected. This is based on good, straightforward access to the performance area. We then require around 15-20 minutes to get changed and ready for the performance.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We're pretty confident that the set list we have evolved over many years of performing will please just about everyone, but we're more than happy to discuss which numbers from our repertoire you'd like us to perform - and any you'd rather we didn't!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes, all we need from you is a suitable mains electricity supply and a performance area at least 4 metres by 3 metres - and ideally twice that size!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We'd be delighted to add a few numbers of your choice, as long as there is enough time between when you book us and the performance date - we obviously need time to learn and rehearse new songs.
