About Michael

Organist, pianist and Ceilidh caller!
Michael Rossi's profile picture
Pianist
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

After graduating in 2001 from King's College London with a B-Mus, where I was an organ scholar, I worked in education, and then for the past 20 years or so in the broadcast radio world (making programmes and documentaries). I play the organ for two London churches, and am regularly booked for weddings and funerals. I also work with singers playing, playing both jazz and classical music, and I am repetiteur (accompanist) for Les Fauristes, a small London-based chamber choir. I am also an experienced caller for Scottish Ceilidh dances.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I try to be as flexible as possible, so if there are slight changes in the timings for the booking in the days leading up to the event, just let me know.

How much time do you need to set up?

For the organ, I need at least 30 minutes setup time (ideally 1 hour), to familiarise myself withe instrument. For piano I don't need much set up, just 20-30 minutes beforehand to make sure it's all fine.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

I'm more than happy to play on any piano, as long as it's in good working order and in tune!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes, but I'm also very happy to discuss other music and options to make sure you're happy and the music works for the event.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes, with at least 5-7 days' notice, I can bring a keyboard to play.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

I'm happy to learn new music. There is a fee of £30-50 for this (depending on the difficulty of the piece and time required to practice).
