Mia is a solo violinist based in Cornwall, with 30 years of weddings, gigs, festivals & events under her belt. Whether playing Bach, Bon Jovi or Britney, she relishes any opportunity to play live or record. Classically trained from age 4, she fell in love with folk in all its forms while studying music at university, & enjoys blending the styles. Emphasis on improvisation, adept at playing with bands, orchestras & string groups live, in the studio and on camera. Sight-reading not a problem providing sheet music is posted in advance. Also proficient in vocal harmonies. Our experience at our wedding was disappointing. We were under the impression that Mia would walk around and play, get the vive going, which Mia was unable to do as she needed to see the music. She hadn't made this very clear at all before I went ahead and booked. We tried to find her a few times throughout the evening and couldn't. I wanted to create a very mature and fun environment for my guests and gave a list of songs, however Mia was playing nursery rhymes and songs I wouldn't have wanted played (regardless of it being for children, I had a wonderful pre-wedding bbq planned, and didn't want 'baby shark' being played. There were a lot of very awkward pauses which was very upsetting for me as the bride.

Hi Alka, I’m sorry you were disappointed with my performance at your pre-wedding BBQ. To address your points: -I haven’t been asked to walk around while playing before. Despite this, I gave it a go after being asked to on the day. Had you asked me to do this prior, I would have declined, as I do require sheet music for some pieces. Unfortunately, the number of guests in the space meant I was unable to move around freely, & it wasn’t successful. -I strongly contest that you tried to find me “a few times throughout the evening and couldn’t”. I’m actually very upset that you would write this. I played for the two hours I was booked for, which includes a 15-minute break halfway through, as specified on the booking form. I’m sorry that you found the interlude awkward. -I played all of the songs on your list & for a few minutes at the end, some nursery rhymes for the children. I did this to engage the children of a stretched mother of four. This was well intentioned, my apologies. I’m very sorry that I wasn’t able to deliver what you were hoping for at your BBQ. I did the best that I could on the night. I hope you had a wonderful wedding day. All the best.

Mia was brilliant!! We hired her for an 80th birthday party and it definitely made the party feel extra special. It created a lovely atmosphere, which is what we'd hoped for. It was a real treat for everyone not just the birthday boy.

I hired Mia for my proposal in St Ives and she helped make the moment perfect! Very easy and clear communication before the event where we discussed all the details. She was all set up and was playing even before we had arrived and played beautifully throughout. She was able to play our favourite song and also had a fantastic selection of songs to choose from!! Couldn't be more grateful to her for helping create such a special moment!! 10/10
