I’m Metanio, the stage name of Mirco Candeloro, an Italian pianist and composer based in London, active across the UK, Austria and Italy. I perform contemporary piano with a cinematic, refined atmosphere, designed to elevate events without taking over the room. My sets follow a clear emotional arc and support welcome drinks, networking, dinner, openings, transitions and award moments, with a professional, low friction setup. I have performed across Europe, including Bechstein Hall in London, VIA Piano and Arts Center and Earth and Soul in Vienna, Industrious at BEAM in Berlin, The Gent in Amsterdam, and Plaza Premium Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4 in London. Highlights, Ludovico Einaudi is central to my repertoire and the artist I cover the most. I also perform cinematic original music as a signature touch, tailored to the event. For pop piano covers I bring original versions of widely requested artists such as Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd. I offer different formats, lounge background, highlight moments, or a focused mini concert.

Metanio played at the Industrious opening at The Gent grand piano in the middle of the room, solo set. A mix of original pieces and covers, including Set Fire to the Rain, which translates really well to piano. The nice thing was you could sit right next to him while he played. It didn't feel like background music people actually stopped and listened. The original compositions were a genuine surprise, more so than you'd expect from an evening like this. Elegant, precise, completely at ease.

A neighbourhood library, a Saturday afternoon, an event mixing literature and live music. Natalie Jayne Clark and Chris Barkley were there to talk about their work she about The Malt Whisky Murders, her debut crime novel shortlisted for the Bloody Scotland Debut Prize — and Metanio was there to play. Just over an hour of solo piano: Ennio Morricone, original compositions, and a version of Back to Black that worked better than you'd expect from an Amy Winehouse cover on piano. The arrangements were considered without being heavy-handed he wasn't trying to impress, but he did anyway. The kind of afternoon where you leave feeling better than when you arrived.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients love the warm, cinematic sound and the way I shape a set as an emotional journey. I blend elegant piano atmosphere with recognizable melodies and original pieces, adapting in real time to the room. The result feels intimate, refined, and memorable without being intrusive.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I’m influenced by Ludovico Einaudi and Ryuichi Sakamoto for minimalism and lyricism, Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone for cinematic storytelling, and classical roots like Chopin, Debussy, and Beethoven for touch and harmony. I also draw from crossover pop piano to connect with diverse audiences.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

A highlight was performing live piano at Plaza Premium Lounge, Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 (London) during the Christmas season: long sets for an international audience, mixing festive classics with contemporary piano and my originals in a high traffic, premium setting.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I’m flexible and I understand timings can shift. If you let me know as early as possible, I can adapt set times and breaks to fit the new schedule. Minor changes are usually fine. For bigger changes, we’ll confirm any extra time or logistics in advance, so everything stays smooth.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can provide background playlist music before I start and during breaks, using your playlist or a curated one that matches the mood. I can plug into the venue system or my setup where possible. This is for ambient “between sets” music, not a full DJ service.

How much time do you need to set up?

Typically 30 minutes, depending on access, space and whether an acoustic piano is provided. If I’m bringing a digital piano and sound, I usually allow up to 60 minutes. I’ll confirm a simple tech plan in advance so the setup is fast and low friction.

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

I’m happy to perform on your venue piano as long as it is in good working order and reasonably in tune. If possible, I’ll ask for a quick photo of the piano and the performance area in advance, so I can confirm setup and positioning.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

You can choose favourites from my song list, especially for key moments. I can also suggest a balanced flow, lounge to highlights, based on your schedule and audience. On the day, I can adapt the selection to keep the atmosphere elegant and consistent.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

No. I don’t bring my own piano or keyboard. If your venue does not have a suitable acoustic piano, I can arrange a professional piano hire for the occasion, matched to the space and style of the event. I will coordinate delivery, placement and timing with the venue and confirm access requirements in advance to keep everything smooth.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes. If you have a special request that is not on my song list, I can learn it in advance with enough notice. Please send the song title, your preferred version, and when you need it during the event. I will confirm feasibility and any additional cost depending on complexity and timing.
