A recent Music graduate from the University of Oxford where she was an instrumental scholar, Meera enjoys her 'hat' as a quality violinist and pianist in various ways. From solo opportunities to chamber music to orchestral music, her experiences have been wide-ranging. With her piano playing, she has elicited praise by audiences in London and Oxford with her unique improvisatory skills and fluid versatility and musicianship. As a violinist, she has delighted in performances in many prestigious venues in the UK such as The Royal Festival Hall, The Guildhall, LSO St Lukes, the Tower of London, St John Smith's Square as well as abroad such as San Rocco, Venice. During her time at university, she naturally seized many musical opportunities, from playing in university-wide orchestras to organising highly successful chamber music concerts. Prior to this period, she had the privilege of being selected by the London Philharmonic Orchestra from hundreds of applicants to be one of their eight Junior Artists from 2017-18 (the first full year of running this scheme). She played with the LPO on numerous occasions, and played a supporting role in workshops around the country to boost inclusion in music education, and diversify those who benefit from such an education (having not come from a 'traditional' background herself). She was the Leader of her local borough youth orchestra (which frequently toured to Venice) and has played with the National Youth Strings Orchestras, in which she was a section leader. Meera has a slightly unique perspective, having grown up with two Deaf/deaf sisters. Over the years she has developed an insight to the discourses around hearing technology, Deafness, and the role in which ‘Music’ may or may not interplay with such subjects. She enjoys being inspired by the artwork of one of her sisters, and likes to think about how it can influence her music-making. She is happy to play for all kinds of events and functions, in and around London, and can cover a wide-variety of genres, from classical to jazz to pop to Non-Western music (and Bridgerton vibes!)

I booked Meera at short notice and luckily she was available for my reception. She played a mixture of songs whilst my guest ate canopes and sipped on cocktails. My guests loved the extra touch to have such wonderful music being played in the background. Thank you Meera for this.

It was such a treat having Meera play at our event last week. Her ability to connect with her audience demonstrates just how versatile a musician and communicator she is. Everyone enjoyed the event so much more with the addition of her playing - it was a truly warming experience.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They are always authentic, and I always put my soul into the sound I make.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be as flexible as possible. If timings change within 48 hours prior to the event, a small fee of £25 is required while I do my best to accommodate this at the last minute.

How much time do you need to set up?

Between 5-15 mins is great! Timing-wise e.g if it's a wedding, I'll need to know what time the wedding starts, and an estimate of the ceremony's length. I also have an overtime policy, so would need to ensure a provision for extra time. I expect any payments for my agreed time and service BEFORE set-up on the day, as this works best for everyone involved.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes - you can request a range. Most popular for weddings tend to be slow and atmospheric music (classical and pop etc) which works really well before and during a ceremony. My playlist includes many of such pieces to choose from, although most customers place a large element of trust and leave it up to me - pop, rock, jazz and more are also there!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes - I bring my own instrument to play acoustically. If, for, whatever reason, my violin needs a mic-up I would request that my client arranges the extra-equipment, however, that has not been necessary so far. If the performance was agreed to be outdoors and it is raining on the day, I require a suitable sheltered area to play otherwise no performance.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Usually, I try to find a style that is acceptable and enhancing for the event, and hence set my own music (alongside a discussion with the customer). If there is a special song I don't know that you'd like me to learn and play I'm happy to do this for you for a very small fee if you just let me know at least 2 weeks in advance.
