For more than 20 years I've played in various bands across England and Europe alongside clarinettist/saxophonist/pianist Charlie Hearnshaw. We have a very wide repertoire! We tailor it to suit your event. Styles you can choose from include jazz, swing (Hot Club gypsy jazz, and Benny Goodman tunes), pop songs, Latin, New Orleans, folk and World music, original music and song, French chansons, and a Beatles repertoire - whatever is best for your particular occasion. All our bands are jazz-oriented. This means simply that the musicians improvise on the tunes rather than always playing covers of versions by other bands, or always playing exactly the same version of a song. If you have favourite tunes you will certainly recognise them, yet our performance will be unique for your event. We play at all kinds of occasions: weddings, funerals, parties, corporate events, cabarets, concerts, festivals. We also have a specialist band available called Projet Brassens, performing songs and tunes by the great French poet/songwriter Georges Brassens. We developed a cabaret presentation for English audiences, to share what we think is special about these songs and why we love them. As well as concerts and cabarets, the catchy melodic chansons work well as background music. We've recorded 3 albums with this band - in addition to several albums with our other bands - toured across England, played at festivals in France and Belgium, and collaborated with author Julian Barnes to present a cabaret at Swindon Festival of Literature. We were even featured on BBC TV's Mastermind when a contestant chose Georges Brassens as his specialist subject!
