Matthew, 19, started learning the piano aged 7 with Janet Bishop GRSM LRAM. More recently he has been studying with Lora Dimitrova, head of keyboard at the Bromley Youth Music Trust and is currently studying for a BMus at Trinity Laban Conservatoire with Professor Mikhail Kezakevich. Matthew has had the opportunity to play as a pianist and saxophonist in the prestigious Bromley Youth Concert Band and Symphonic Winds, going on tours abroad and performing at the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. He has also given concerts as part of a saxophone quartet and piano quintet, and is currently a member of three piano trios. Matthew regularly performs in local festivals and has won prizes at both the Bromley and Beckenham festivals. He was also the winner of the Lewington Cup at the Yamaha International Summer School 2015, performing his debut recital at Yamaha Music London. Matthew has played at masterclasses at Steinway Hall and the Kent International Piano Course, gaining tuition from Murray McLachlan, Noriko Ogawa and Ilga Pitkevica. Besides classical music Matthew has a keen interest in jazz, performing regularly with his quartet ‘The Jazz Troopers’.
