Solo orchestral player with experience of playing in a wide range of settings, from weddings and funerals to concerts and pubs. I started playing at the age of 8 years old, achieving Grade 8 with Distinction aged only 15, and winning an interschool music competition in Fife in my final year of high school. I enjoy both playing and interacting socially, in formal and informal settings. In 2024 I performed the flute solo in Fauré's Pavanne in St Andrews' main concert venue. In the same year I performed in a range of community events.

I asked Matt to stand in at short notice for a show I was doing, and I very glad I did. His musicianship, warmth and sensitivity really added to the evening. I’ll be booking him again for sure.

Matt regularly plays at musical events within our church and community. We welcome his flute at our Remembrance and Taize style services as well as at other worship and community theatre events. His tuneful, sensitive playing is a great addition to the musicality of everything he takes part in. Matt’s creative and empathetic nature makes him a pleasure to work with and his gracious encouragement helps others to take part when they might otherwise have held back. His positive, yet modest, attitude often enables others to find solutions to their musical challenges. He is an asset to all the musical gatherings I have witnessed him at.
