I am experienced improviser and can play for hours without any prompts. I am able to work out songs on the spot using my ear. My favourite styles are jazz and classical but am comfortable playing anything, and I particularly enjoy weaving together styles ranging from Baroque through Romantic to Pop! I am a fluent sight-reader, currently a lay-clerk at Keble and part of the Pusey House Quartet, who also sings with the acclaimed New London Chamber Choir and The Renaissance Singers.

Matt played for an 80th birthday dinner to a mixed age group. He chose a good mood pleasing selection of music and was very pleasant and straightforward to work with. My Bluthner grand piano has never been played so beautifully since I have owned it.

Matt Pope has provided wonderful music for us on several occasions. He has an amazing repertoire and will give anything a go. We have danced, sung along and chatted over his music. He is a pleasure to have at an event, popular with guests with just the right level of interaction at all times. He is organised and able to suggest music or will work with you. Can’t recommend him highly enough.

How much time do you need to set up?

10 Minutes

If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?

Yes absolutely, a real piano is a pleasure to play so long as it is in tune and functioning well.

Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?

Yes.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If the song can be learned quickly I would be happy to play it no extra charge. If it is difficult I would have to charge a fee of £30 to cover rehearsal times.
