2005 was the year that DJ and Producer MatA found and fell in love with Djing, most specifically with Drum and Bass. At that time, Portugal didn’t really have a very big Drum & Bass scene but he was blessed to be born and live in Porto where these parties used to happen every 2 weeks although they represented a very small niche. Fast forward 2 years down the line and he has made his debut behind the decks under the name of Dogz United, an alias with which he has supported the likes of Andy C, DJ Hype, Friction, Noisia, Icicle, Ed Rush & Optical, Alix Perez, A.M.C., Commix, Goldie, Black Sun Empire, Limewax, The Sect, Cooh and Sub Focus, just to name a few. There were 4 years where he had countless gigs until he decided to leave his hometown to make a drastic move and make a base for himself in London. Adulthood ensued and got in the way but he managed to come back to his passion and in 2019 he formed EKOU Recordings, a Drum and Bass record label that is still running. MatA has released music in the past under the pseudo name of Photon and Complice (which he still uses for his Drum and Bass gigs), and has been featured on his own imprint on two separate occasions as well as Boey Audio. His latest track was a collaboration with A K A named ‘Misconception’, which was part of Ekou’s ‘Full Spectrum VA‘ and dropped in February of 2022. As time went by MatA started to develop a taste for other genres such as House, Techno, Afro Beats, Amapiano, Rnb and even Hip Hop. The versatility on his Dj Sets provides a varied pallette of sounds he can use to ignite dancefloors and please different ears and musical tastes. This resourcefulness make MatA the perfect choice for your event, regardless of what the theme might be.
