Great soprano and really nice to work with.
Mary is currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Susan Waters. She was brought up in Glasgow, where she was a chorister at St Mary’s Cathedral and attended the Music School of Douglas Academy. During her time as a chorister, she sang with the choir and as a soloist for numerous recordings and broadcasts on BBC Radios 2, 3 and Scotland as well as appearing on several editions of BBC ‘Songs of Praise’. Mary joined the RSNO’s Junior Chorus at the age of seven and was subsequently selected as a soloist for the RSNO and the BBC SSO for their Christmas concerts and several CDs. She was also a founding member of the National Girls’ Choir of Scotland and was invited back to record the soprano solos in Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. From 2009, Mary sang with the National Youth Choir of Scotland and its chamber choir. In 2011, Mary became a Graduate Music Assistant at Wells Cathedral School. Following this appointment, she was made Assistant House Parent of the Junior Girls’ Boarding House. During her time in Wells, Mary sang for the Wellensian Consort and Bath Camerata and performed as a soloist for many local choral societies including Bach St John Passion, Handel Messiah, Purcell Dido and Aeneas and Vivaldi Gloria. During this time, she continued her singing studies with Isobel Buchanan and later Gail Pearson. In 2013, Mary gained a place on The Sixteen’s coveted training scheme ‘Genesis Sixteen’. From July 2014, Mary was living and working in Glasgow where she now studied with Wilma MacDougall. She sang regularly with Glasgow Cathedral choir, The Telemann Ensemble, West End Baroque and taught Kodaly for the RSNO’s Education Department.
