About Martin Little - Saxophonist

Professional saxophonist, based in Bradford, with many years of experience in enhancing weddings, parties, corporate events and more.
Saxophonist
Bradford
Public liability insurance of £10 million

I've been performing on the saxophone and other woodwind instruments for decades, since my early years at school, and received my advanced training at Trinity College of Music in London, where I gained my BMus (Hons) degree, and also Fellowship performing diploma. In the years since, I've performed all over the UK, and around Europe, in venues ranging from private gardens, churches, concert halls, theatres, pubs, hotels, lake cruise boats, and more. The highlight was during my student years, in the State Ballroom of Buckingham Palace for an event hosted by the (now) King Charles III. I love everything to do with performing, whether playing in a theatre orchestra, in a band, or as a solo artist, and enjoy the opportunity to use my skills to enhance an event. This could include adding that extra special touch to a wedding day, or creating the right atmosphere for a corporate occasion. For weddings, for example, I can provide music for the ceremony, or background music during the drinks reception or wedding breakfast. However, I DON'T offer the Ibiza club or sax/DJ type party sets.

Martin was excellent from start to finish, provided a great atmosphere throughout the wedding breakfast with a great mixture of music for everyone’s taste, we even had some singing and dancing to his tunes, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and the amount of comments from the guests and Bride & Groom were a testament to how well he was received, thank you again

Martin was very easy to work with and communicate with leading up to our wedding. He played our first dance song (A Million Love Songs by Take That) and then for a couple hours throughout our wedding breakfast. All of our guests really enjoyed the live music. Martin did a beautiful job! Would definitely recommend him for your next event.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I always aim to provide a friendly and professional service from start to finish, so you can enjoy your event without any worry. I love playing and enhancing an event, so like to keep going during a drinks reception or meal, for example, so that you don't get a quiet spot right at the time everyone is eating.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Chester Racecourse, Bradbury Glade, Country Park Hotel (Hessle), Daffodil Hotel, Falcon Manor Hotel, Grantley Hall, Higher Trapp Hotel, Inglewood Manor, Inn on the lake, Low Wood Bay Hotel, Oulton Hall, Owston Hall Hotel, Rockliffe Hall Hotel, Wentbridge House Hotel, Wood Hall Hotel & Spa .... and many more.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I can't say I've been influenced by any one particular artist. I just love performers with a nice round sound, and those who play great tunes. These can be anything from 80's (possibly the best era for a good tune), a bit of smooth jazz, right through to melodic Disney themes, and all of these go down well for background music performances.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

During my final year at Trinity College of Music in London I had the honour of performing in the State Ballroom of Buckingham Palace as lead Alto Sax with the college big band.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know. For any big changes please let me know as soon as possible and I'll do my best to accommodate your changes.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

When playing a number of sets I'll happily play some suitable music to fill the gap so that the room doesn't suddenly go quiet and lose the atmosphere.

How much time do you need to set up?

I always aim to arrive an hour before I'm due to start playing (more if the occasion requires it), so that I can discuss any issues with the venue staff and set up before guests arrive.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

I have an extensive list of great tracks in my library, and it's continually expanding. If you have any requests for tracks or styles that you'd like including (or avoiding) just let me know. If you have a track in mind which isn't in my library, especially if it's for a key part of the day, I'll do my best to add it to the library.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I provide my own instruments and PA system. I have a high quality mains-powered PA for bigger rooms, but also have a battery-powered alternative for times when power isn't available, small rooms, or when I need to be able to relocate quickly. I also bring some lighting for times when a splash of colour will add to the performance.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If you have a special request which isn't currently in my library, but would work well as an instrumental track on sax, I'll do my best to source a high quality backing track and add it to the library free of charge.
