Mariah De Vries

Mariah de Vries is a contemporary singer-songwriter from the Netherlands. Her music is a unique mix of traditional Americana and modern folk, with a style often compared to that of Eva Cassidy and Joan Baez. Born near Amsterdam, Mariah started her musical journey at a young age. She studied music at the Minerva Academy of Pop Culture in the North of Holland and soon became immersed in the world of harmony singing and songwriting. She is inspired by artists as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and The Weather Station, and enjoyed early success as the front-woman of the Dream-folk band WONDER. Mariah is an experienced live music service provider for weddings, parties, events, funerals and venues. Her professional set-up and musical mastery has helped carve a successful career alongside her original music work and continues to be a sought-after part of her journey as a musician. Over the past decade, Mariah has released music as part of various collaborative projects and is currently working on the release of a debut. With the band Wonder she has previously performed at European festivals including the Showcase festival Eurosonic, Into The Great Wide Open and Grasnapolsky, and she recently toured internationally with the Folk trio Pinfeather. Mariah is an accomplished live performer as a solo artist and front woman, often performing with acoustic guitar, electric guitar or banjo to accompany her confident, yet vulnerable singing style. Her playing is intimate and honest, exploring themes of love, loss and hope, which recently led to an invitation to residencies on the German islands.
