Marie De Bry is known as a versatile freelance musician, playing solo, chamber music and in orchestras. She performed in various venues and festivals around Europe. As a soloist and chamber musician, Marie was invited to take part in festivals like the Czech Chamber Music Festival, the Gustav Mahler Academy and the Santander Festival, where she played alongside Hansjörg Schellenberger. Her recital concerts include two performances in the Wigmore Hall London. She also performed the viola solo in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with the Ranelagh Chamber Orchestra. Her experiences as an orchestral musician has led her to perform with orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the St.-Petersburg Ballet Theatre, the Oxford Philharmonic and the Royal Flemish Philharmonic. Marie is a prizewinner of several competitions. She was awarded the second prize at the North London Festival - Viola Competition, the third prize at the violin and viola competition of the Kenneth Page Foundation, the second place at the Theodore Holland Viola Prize and she received a scholarship from the Fondazione Paolo Grassi, awarded by Bruno Giuranna. During master classes she had the opportunity to work with renowned violists such as Lawrence Power, Wolfram Christ, Bruno Giuranna, Lars Anders Tomter, Hartmut Rohde, Garth Knox, Helen Callus, Yuko Inoue and Richard Crabtree. As a teacher, Marie was an intern for the First String Experience class at the junior department of the Royal Academy of Music. Her students obtained merits and distinctions in the ABRSM exams. Marie studied violin with Guido De Neve and Tatiana Samouil at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (Belgium). In 2012 she obtained her master degree on the violin and moved to London to start her second master studies on the viola with Jon Thorne at the Royal Academy of Music, where she graduated in 2015. Today Marie is professionally active as a violinist and violist.

I booked Marie to play for a string quartet function yesterday. She arrived in good time and was good fun to have in the quartet. It was a long booking covering music through the ages which she sight read professionally. I would recommend her to anyone wishing to book a player for work of this nature.
