Maria Mullin is a freelance musician based in West Yorkshire. Her main interests are as a saxophonist, conductor and educator. Born in Liverpool, Maria learnt saxophone and piano from an early age. She studied music at the University of York, and now enjoys a varied musical career in the Bradford and Leeds area. As a conductor Maria has experience leading a number of ensembles, including gospel choirs and contemporary music groups. She is currently West Yorkshire Director with All For One Choir, a network of non-auditioned choirs with a vision to make music accessible to all. Through All For One, Maria has directed her choirs at many events in the region, including prestigious performances with tenor Russell Watson and vocal trio Blake. Maria is a keen saxophonist with experience of playing in many types of jazz and classical ensembles, most recently with the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra. Her focus is as an Alto and Soprano player, but also plays Baritone saxophone. She is currently developing opportunities to perform some of the beautiful but lesser known classical saxophone repertoire. As an educator, Maria works with Artis Education as a Artis Specialist. In this role she delivers creative sessions in primary schools, which fuse music, movement and drama. She also teaches saxophone, piano and music theory lessons and is involved in running school choirs.
