About Mandy Penney

Classy female vocalist with a wealth of material from jazz swing to pop, soul etc Connects with the audience or keeps an elegant distance.
Singer
Fleet
Public liability insurance of £1 million

Female vocalist, with a wealth of experience from cabaret, festivals, jazz, private parties, vintage events, summer balls, and corporate events to rewarding care homes. Genres, country, jazz, vintage, pop, soul, funk, rock & roll, musical, female Buble, to those beautiful standards. Performed all over the UK as a solo artist, duo, band, and hugely popular 22-piece band. Cover a huge range of material from the 40s to now. As a soloist, I am perfect for that small company event, private garden party, afternoon tea, restaurant function, pub event with dancing afterwards, in fact, any special event. The Duo, we are perfect for all of the above plus, Balls, dinner dances, private parties where lots of dancing is required, and most fun events where celebrating and fun are key. We interact with the audience, read the crowd and play what we think will work for each audience and it works! We don't intrude, but if interaction is appreciated then we will make the most of that, sometimes that bit of interaction can really lift the atmosphere and make it even more unique and special. Background: I was semi-pro at seventeen, working in the northern clubs, then I moved on to the holiday camps, that was my university, I just wanted to sing, I then went on to tour with a dance troupe cabaret act, and eventually I got signed to a management company in the pop industry, singing pop songs, I did lots of session singing and gigging in and around the London area, working with various songwriters and recording many original tracks. Later on, following a happy time in the pop industry, I worked in a successful function band, performing in places such as Phyllis Court Hotel, Four Seasons, and Lincoln’s Inn, had a regular stint at Hilton chain Surrey in the 90’s and weddings at The Commonwealth Institute. As a soloist, I had regular gigs at John Lewis 2017-2021 (then sadly we had lockdown), many private parties, restaurants, business social events, residential homes, parties, functions etc, also as a duo. All the work I get is mainly word of mouth as I get lots of recommendations, I have not needed an agent for many years, because the power of word of mouth has been greater and I like to manage my own working life, it gives me the freedom of choice and I get to meet people on my own terms and I just love what this all brings to me and others, through the power and magic of music. I love singing and the audiences say that it shows.

She always turns up with a smile on her face and dressed according to the season or special occasion. She has a plan of songs for the visit but always has time at the end for requests. She has a large repertoire of songs so is nearly always able to please but if a less known one she goes away and learns it for her next visit, this makes everyone feel special that she remembered. The residents love her visits and there is always a large group ready for her arrival. We will definitely continue to book Mandy for our future events and occasions. Mandy has a beautiful voice which really compliments the songs she sings for our residents.

We are very lucky to have Mandy singing fabulous Christmas tunes in the salon on Fleet festivities night. she brings a joy and warmth, which everyone loves this time of year and she really pulls the crowds in because as well as singing she also MCs and chats to the audience as they gather around the salon to enjoy the music.”
