Born in Singapore, 22-year-old bassist Madeleine holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree from University of Auckland where she studied under Evgeny Lanchtchikov. Maddy has been involved in AYO, NZSO NYO and the CBSO Youth Orchestra. Her orchestral activities have brought her to Austria, Slovenia, Germany and all over New Zealand. She is currently an APO scholar; past awards include the Michael Monaghan Scholarship, Manukau Symphony Scholarship and AYO Soloist Competition Gem prize. At the beginning of 2015 Maddy was a guest artist at the Akaroa International Music Festival where she was featured in several chamber music ensembles. Maddy continues to gain artistic experience from masterclasses and lessons with Sidney King, Rachel Atkinson, Leo Phillips, Gordon Hill, Bella Zilber, Hiroshi Ikematsu, Alex Henery and Thierry Barbe to name a few, Maddy is currently pursuing a Master of Music with scholarship at Birmingham Conservatoire under Thomas Martin.
