Maddy Hurlstone is an up-and-coming young harpist with extensive experience, based in Hampshire, UK. Having previously studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music in Cardiff and receiving a first-class honours undergraduate degree at Royal Holloway, University of London, she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Therapy. Having previously studied under esteemed harpist Claire Jones, former Royal Harpist to HRH the Prince of Wales, Maddy is now a leading professional harpist in the South-East, performing in many prestigious locations in the UK, including St, David’s Hall in Cardiff at the Welsh Proms, Aberystwyth Music Festival and St. John’s Smith Square. “I have always been in awe of the power of live music; it can be so transformative, communal and evoke such emotion. I work closely with clients to bring their vision of their event to life, and it is always a privilege to be a part of such special moments. Weddings, in particular, are always such a joy to be privy to. I always work in partnership with clients to create repertoire lists that are customised and individually suited to each event. I love taking requests and being able to perform pieces that have so much emotional value to people is always an honour.”

We loved having Maddy perform at our Cream Tea Event. Really enjoyed her range of music and wouldnt hesitate to rebook her. Only slight issue was the sound could have been louder for everyone to clearly hear her.

Lovely music for my daughter’s wedding. Maddie liaised with her regularly to create the playlist she wanted . My only regret was I didn’t get a chance to speak to her after the ceremony. So many thanks for wonderful music .

Maddy provided the music for our anniversary celebration. It goes without saying that the performance was superb. What’s more, Maddy was a delight to work with. She was responsive, helped us to find a singer to accompany the music, was punctual and the soul of professionalism.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I will always try my best to be flexible to help ensure your events runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run-up to your event, just let me know.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually arrive 30-40 mins prior to the performance to allow time to set up.

Is the transport of your harp included in your quote?

Yes! Transport and travel costs are all included in the quotes.

Do you need any equipment provided to play outdoors?

I'm more than happy to play outside - weather permitting! I require a flat and stable surface to play on, both indoors and outdoors, and a cover for if it rains as my instrument is valuable and could be damaged.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what sounds best on the harp. However, I'm definitely happy to chat through music ideas with you and together we can make sure we find what works for your event.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If there is a special song that you'd like me to learn I'd be very happy to accommodate your ideas and see whether it works well on the harp. If you have more than 3 songs that you'd like me to learn then a fee of £30 will apply to take into account rehearsal times etc.
