Lynne was wonderful for our wedding. So talented. Lynne was so helpful with music choices and thought of every detail down to making sure her outfit didn’t clash with the bridesmaids, mother of the bride etc. We would highly recommend Lynne

It was such a pleasure to prepare for and play in this beautiful wedding - the couple were so easy to communicate with and I really enjoyed helping them find appropriate music for the register-signing.

Amicus Orchestra brings summer sunshine to Glasgow’s West End Festival: ...Expressive pointed woodwinds added a spicy edge, with piccolo and a cor anglais making a brief appearance, delightfully jaunty oboes and clarinets and lovely solo flute playing.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients have appreciated the careful programming of my solo performances, particularly those that have asked me to suggest appropriate repertoire. They love the sound I make on the flute, especially in a church or large building and have appreciated my professional approach.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

As an orchestral player, I have played in the Usher Hall and Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, St Andrew's in the Square and Bute Hall in Glasgow and in the famous Gewandhaus, Leipzig with Amicus Orchestra. As soloist, I have performed in St Giles' Cathedral, Dunblane Cathedral, Eilean Donan Castle and in many church buildings.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I love the flute playing of Emmanuel Pahud and Lorna McGhee and have always enjoyed the wonderful sound that William Bennett makes on the flute. I am also influenced by many other Classical musicians (especially string players), including James Ehnes, Jonathan Morton, Andras Schiff and Nicola Benedetti - I learn greatly from their phrasing and musicianship.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I played a concert of music by Peter Maxwell Davies, Bruch and Mendelssohn with Amicus Orchestra to a full house of nearly 2,000 people in the famous Gewandhaus in Leipzig in November 2018 which was very enthusiastically received by the audience.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I will do my best to be flexible if timings for the day of the event change - however, I cannot guarantee my availability if the actual date of an event is changed.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

As I am fundamentally an acoustic player, I am not able to do this.

How much time do you need to set up?

I just need 15-20 mins to find an appropriate place to position myself and set up/test the acoustic.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I have a tried and tested list of pieces suitable for different events and am very experienced in creating an appropriate atmosphere, but am always happy to play specific requests if suitable for my instrument.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I bring everything I need with me.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I am very happy to do this, although I may have to very slightly increase my fee for the extra time involved.
