About Lydia

Lydia is a Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Musical Theatre Graduate with an outstanding vocal range.
Singer (Soprano)
London

Lydia began training at the age of six years old by joining the local church choir. It was here that she began to explore her vocal capabilities through a classical medium and grew in confidence. She completed her training under the RSCM scheme reaching the highest award with a distinction. Lydia was a member of the church choir for twelve years and to this day she still believes it paved the way for her future singing career. During her final years of secondary school, Lydia was offered a place on a BTEC Performing Arts course, coordinated and tutored by west end professionals Christopher Key and Lucy Cound. She began learning all about musical theatre performance and discovered innovative styles of singing such as belt technique and contemporary. During her training she performed multiple roles including Maria in West Side Story and it was here that Lydia knew she wanted to pursue a career in musical theatre. During her teenage years, Lydia took part in many theatre company productions playing various roles including Mary Magdalene in The West Bromwich Operatic Society, Midland’s tour of Jesus Christ Superstar and Major Matilda in the Impulse production of All Shook Up. Lydia’s passion pushed her to put together projects of her own including three huge cabaret concerts in Wolverhampton, regular gigs through-out the West Midlands including charity events and finally she plucked up the courage to audition for drama school. Lydia successfully gained a place on a BA Hons in Musical Theatre Performance course at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. During her three years of training at Mountview her vocal capabilities were pushed and her focus on acting and performance grew in maturity. She played various roles including Fruma Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof, Sally Slaton in Parade, Cumie Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde and her final year leading role as Judy Denmark in Ruthless!. Lydia graduated in 2015 and was signed by leading talent agency RKA Talent. Since graduating she has taken part in various workshops, regular guest performances and last year she completed a seven month contract as lead vocalist on board the ms Zaandam. She is looking forward to playing the role of Glinda in the Immersion Theatre Pantomime of The Wizard of Oz at Christmas time this year.

The clearest surprise was the young Lydia Hackett who crafted her superb vocals and acting into a mature compassionate Magdalene.
