Lucy Lou Sings for You

I have been singing for as long as I can remember. There was no stopping me once I received a Fisher Price karaoke machine for my 5th Birthday! I was shy and quiet at school, but plucked up the courage to sing ‘Big Spender’ and won the talent contest on the last day of secondary school, in front of hundreds of people. I think I shocked the teachers (and myself!) with what a powerful voice I had. At college I sang in a choir, and studied performing arts – which made me realise I just loved performing and being on stage. A few years later I joined a local Amateur Dramatic Society, who I have been with for 15 years now. My favourite role was playing the part of ‘Muzzy’ the jazz singer, in ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’. Over the years I have performed on stage at local events, took part in various ‘open mic nights’ and even sang karaoke in front of thousands of people at Reading Festival. My Dads record collection shaped my love of music, and as I sang along I soon discovered my voice suited blues, country, soul and jazz. I am drawn to songs from the 40s, 50s and 60s, but I like to sing a variety of songs, and work with what my audience enjoy. With my love of musical theatre, I naturally enjoy singing and performing these songs too.
