I have been singing for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I would sing along whilst watching ‘Top of The Pops’ and dream of being a pop star! I used to make up songs and record them on tape, and built up quite a collection! I was shy and quiet at school, but plucked up the courage to sing ‘Big Spender’ and won the talent contest on the last day of secondary school, in front of hundreds of people. I think I shocked the teachers (and myself!) with what a powerful voice I had. At college I sang in a choir, and studied performing arts – which made me realise I just loved performing and being on stage. A few years later I joined a local Amateur Dramatic Society, who I have been with for 15 years now. My favourite role was playing the part of ‘Muzzy’ the jazz singer, in ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’. Over the years I have performed on stage at local events, took part in various ‘open mic nights’ and even sang karaoke in front of thousands of people at Reading Festival. My Dads record collection shaped my love of music, and as I sang along I soon discovered my voice suited blues, country, soul and jazz. I am drawn to songs from the 40s, 50s and 60s, but I like to sing a variety of songs, and work with what my audience enjoy. With my love of musical theatre, I naturally enjoy singing and performing these songs too.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I have a natural flair from performing on stage most my life, so people often comment on my charisma and enthusiasm that can be felt and seen. I have an expensive face, and believe it is important to tell a story through the music and when you connect with your audience.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I perform with a local amateur dramatic group, and so I am often used to singing on stage and performing in the theatre to a large audience. I have sang at local music festivals, carnivals, summer fetes, bars, and pubs. I also enjoy taking part in a local charity jazz concert each year, where i sing with a band, in the community church.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Etta James, Tori Amos, Carole King, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Madonna and Kylie for performance and charisma!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I sang in front of 3000 people in the karaoke tent at Reading Festival! This was a highlight, as I looked out and saw the whole audience engaged.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Please just try and let me know as soon as possible, and I will work with you to accommodate any changes.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I would be able to provide some background music in between sets, but I am not able to provide bespoke DJ sessions.

How much time do you need to set up?

Around 30 minutes, but this would be dependant on the venue and type of performance I have been booked to do. For larger functions - such as weddings, I would arrive with more time to ensure I can set up and test equipment, sound levels etc.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I would be more than happy for you to work with me to select your favourite songs, and if there are any you wish to add then I will do my absolute best to accommodate this.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I would always supply my own equipment… I come as a package!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Absolutely, I would do my best and love to make your event as personal and enjoyable as possible for you.

A brilliant afternoon today…we were entertained & enchanted by LUCY LOU an excellent female vocalist who used to be a carer and engages with residents so beautifully. Residents chose the songs they wanted to hear from her playlist. It was such a lovely atmosphere, everyone was either tapping away or singing away. My favourite was "all that jazz" from Chicago, had to have a little dance and get the jazz hands going with everyone. Thank again to LucyLou, we look forward to having you back again.
