About Lucy

Amateur/semi-professional violinist living in Chippenham with lots of orchestral experience.
Violinist
Chippenham

Lucy has recently completed a postgraduate diploma in violin performance in the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Lucy Gould. Prior to this she graduated with a first from Southampton University where she studied for a masters degree in acoustical engineering. During her time in university she played the violin in various orchestras and had the pleasure of leading both the symphony and chamber orchestras in her final year. Whilst studying at university Lucy began teaching the violin. She gained experience teaching complete beginners and also gave lessons to a music student in want of some additional help. Lucy grew up in a very musical household and started playing the violin and piano at a young age. Through lessons with her mother, Harry Cawood and Evandra Esteves she achieved distinction in grade 8 piano and obtained a performance diploma on the violin before leaving school. Lucy was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales for six years and had the privilege of co-leading the orchestra in her last two UK tours under the baton of Owain Arwel Hughes. As part of the orchestra, she has been able to perform in a number of magnificent concert venues like The Sage in Gateshead, St. David’s Hall in Cardiff and for Lady Walton in her outdoor concert stage in her home in Ischia, Italy. Whilst at music college she played in many of the ensembles including the symphony, chamber and opera orchestras. Lucy was also given the fantastic opportunity of performing live on Radio 3 with the BBC NOW in a side-by-side project in collaboration with the RWCMD. Aside from music, Lucy has many other hobbies including being an avid dancer having attended ballet, tap and jazz lessons for most of her life. She is also a former member of the Junior Associates of the Royal Ballet School.
