About Lucas

A traditional Highland Piper who has played for over nine years, at a variety of events such as weddings, funerals and Burns nights.
Bagpiper
Edinburgh

Having played the Highland Bagpipes for nine years, I developed a strong passion for this instrument. I had the incredible fortune to have been taught by the ex-Queen’s Pipe Major, and under his tutelage I won 4 out of 5 competitions I entered. Having previously been the leader of a Pipe Band based near London, I have now moved to Edinburgh for university, so will be there during term time. I already have a wide variety of tunes that I can play, and am very happy to take requests at the event. Having had the privilege of playing at many events, including playing for the BBC at the Royal Wedding, I have built up significant experience playing at different types of events. When I am not performing at an event, I busk and have done so frequently during the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh.

Thank you for your amazing playing at my wedding, both the playing at the beginning and the various processions throughout the day added a really special atmosphere to the day, and all my friends commented on how beautifully you played.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I am as flexible as possible, and can get set up quickly. Being able to take many tune requests has always been a bonus but overall simply having the bagpipes at an event can make it very memorable as it resonates with many guests.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Hmm, probably playing for the BBC at Harry and Meghan's royal wedding

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I will always try my best to be as flexible as possible in order to ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings do change, just let me know as soon as possible, and usually this will be completely fine. If I am unable to adapt I will endeavour to find you another piper.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

N/A

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually only need around 15 minutes to tune up

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes of course, I will always try to be as flexible as possible to suit you.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, of course!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song is not on my list, there is a good chance I know it anyways. If I do not know it, I am more than happy to learn it, so all you need to do is let me know as soon as possible before the event. There is no extra fee for this service.
