Lots to talk about here but you can always just come and see us; We play The Seveney N1 every Thursday from 8pm - great place, independent pub, very cool, young crowd. Come down and meet us! The majority of LFS bookings are repeat bookings or from people who've seen us at venues, weddings, events etc. We also respond within the hour to direct enquiries on Encore. Whatever you are planning, LFS has the experience to make it work. This frees you up to concentrate on the event itself rather than managing the band. Corporate events: Christie's, Hermes Investment Management, Cineworld, Royal College of Art, Fritz Hansen, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Haringey Council, Cambridge University (Christ's, Queen's and RFC), University of Westminster, Alter Domus, Covington and Burling, The Cultivist, I&A studios Weddings: have been as individual as the couple (and rightly so!) from city centre hotels (Shangri-La at The Shard, Meridien Piccadilly e.t.c.) and country houses (Gosfield Hall, Belair House) to Brixton railway arches and the Hauser &Wirth gallery in Somerset. Large and small. Quirky and traditional. Birthday and anniversary venues similarly range from restaurants to marquees and celebrate 35, 40, 50, 60 and 70! There are lots of reviews on the site or we can put you in touch directly with any of our recent clients. Venues: Bush Hall, Ruby's Dalston, The Woodman Highgate, Bernie Grant's Arts Centre Tottenham. Why does LFS do so well? We play Blue Note jazz – the cool 1960's jazz that even non-jazz fans like. Cool and sophisticated (not cheesy or difficult). We’re instrumental – Guests can listen as much or as little as they choose and are free to chat, eat and drink as well. There is no vocalist craving attention (we love jazz singers but the event has to be the star) We play the room – if the energy needs to go up or everyone prefers to chill, then our choice of tunes on reflect that. We’re grown ups. Reliable, responsible professionals who adapt to different situations and set ups. Musicains can be hard work but we are professionally managed - PO numbers, invoicing, scheduling, logistics, equipment, being there on time, every time - are covered. You can just focus on the event itself. We can play 24 hours, 7 days a week, 12 months a year. Instead of risking deps, we are a group of six musicians who play bookings as a quartet. We rehearse together and can cover for each other when it comes to holidays, illness e.t.c. And we love to play...we'd NEVER describe ourselves as a 'function' band. We are a real jazz band playing live somewhere in London every week (Check out our f page - Love For Sale London - for the latest dates). And lastly we're getting younger(!) We've added the best young jazz musicians from Guildhall, Trinity e.t.c into our line ups so you'll be helping the stars of the future.

Love For Sale's Song list

All our tunes come from the classic Blue Note era of jazz in the 1960's.
Its cool and sophisticated but not cheesy or 'difficult.'
And its also instrumental - there is no vocalist craving attention - so the event is the main attraction.
We've learnt how to pick the right tune for the room in front of us. Whether the energy needs to go up or we need to let things chill, all the tunes are ready and waiting.
No two events are the same. As well as weddings, we've played funerals. As well as Mayfair hotels, we've played care homes and street markets. As well as Christie's and Sandhurst, we've played artist's studios and living rooms.
The tunes we choose evidence grown ups playing to make the event a success.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We got alot of insight on this from client reviews. Sounding great and being super-professional are a given. The thing that pleases us most is that guests pick up a positive vibe from the band. There are lots of good jazz musicians but most of them hang round like a bad smell at an event. Don't book musicians that you wouldn't have as guests!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Bush Hall, Village Underground, The Royal Automobile Club, Bernie Grant's Arts Centre, Cambridge University, Christie's, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Blue Note jazz – the cool 1960's jazz that even non-jazz fans like. Cool and sophisticated. Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Grant Green...its a long (and great) list..

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Probably the TV stuff - Made in Chelsea and advertising for Net a Porter. LFS have played on plenty of the big stages in London - Bush Hall, Village Underground. There can't be many (non-jazz) stages that haven't been graced by a member of LFS either eg. Glastonbury. Thats not really an LFS booking but has been played in other guises.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Love For Sale is instrumental so no singer We have eight members playing out mainly as a quartet which is key to our reliability. We can cover holidays illness e.t.c. We all rehearse together and everyone plays out with everyone else so the LFS vibe isn't really down to one person.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes we do - the quartet is at the core of what we do. Its how we play every Friday in Ruby's. We have slimmed down to a trio on request but generally its not required. Our footprint (space requirement) is already quite small and we have the experience from afternoon teas to funerals to manage the volume down to below conversational levels.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If the date or time is available then thats not an issue at all.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes but the venue needs to have a sound system or PA. For many events we are background anyway so a break works quite well in varying the 'texture' in the room.

How much time do you need to set up?

Ha! We arrive one hour beforehand and allow 45 minutes for set up but we've been surprised by clients ('we're running 30 minutes early') and managed it in less. 20 mins is probably the absolute minimum. Crucially in terms of after playing we can literally pick up and move everything elsewhere and pack there if you want the space back quickly

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course if you have a must-hear jazz tune for you, we'd be delighted to play it for you. One bride recently requested Nina Simone's Feeling Good and burst into tears when we played it (for the right reasons!). But generally you can leave that to us. We often switch tunes in the set to suit the mood in the room to take the energy up or down.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Its all included. Ours its a very light equipment list. We don't need a PA (no singer). We bring two small amps (one bass and one guitar) and a small jazz drumkit. Thats it.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Of course.

Thank you to John and the band for a fantastic event. All through the afternoon I had guests at our party coming up to say how amazing the band was. The music was just excellent and the perfect balance for the party - present but not imposing, and they really transformed the event into something special. I would highly recommend them. John was super helpful in the weeks up to the event in terms of advice around timings etc, and was totally flexible when we moved things around. They were prompt, discreet, friendly and professional, and the music was just fantastic. Thank you so much!

Love for Sale John, Karen and Ennio were absolutely fantastic: they were meant to be a surprise for my husband 40th birthday party and it all worked very well! They have been professional, organised, accommodating, punctual and, most importantly...they played fabulous music! The guests raved about their jazz, they definitely made the event a special one.
