Lotta Virkkunen

It’s all about having fun with every single person you are performing for!” ~Lotta Lotta Virkkunen has established herself in both Finland and Ireland as one the most diverse violin players of her generation. Lotta has graduated from the prestigious music school Sibelius Academy in Finland and is currently doing MA in Music Performance in the Cork School of music. She has also studied Irish traditional music at the Irish World Academy. Lotta is known for her effortless ability to improvise and play classical, traditional, pop, jazz and rock music fluently. She is a virtuosic and versatile player, who does not just play notes, but always brings genuine feeling to the music. Lotta has performed well over 1000 gigs in her career so far in shows, corporate events, weddings, festivals and private functions. She has performed for example for the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins. She has worked with many other well known musicians such as Daniel O'Donnell and Shane Filan from Westlife. Lotta was also seen on stage in The Voice Of Ireland 2016 Finale with contestant Nigel O'Connell. Lotta is popular performer in tv shows, recordings, classical recitals, fashion shows and club gigs with DJ’s. Recently Lotta has worked as a lead fiddler in The Women Of Ireland show touring in USA and Europe. She's been the leading lady in many other stage shows such as Dance Masters and Celtic Angels touring internationally. In 2014 she starred as a lead fiddle player in Gaelforce Dance touring in Europe. She has performed with numerous orchestras in Finland, Scandinavia and Ireland, i.e. The Finnish Baroque Orchestra and The Irish Baroque Orchestra. As a professional violinist and having studied composing and arrangement with some of the leading composers in Finland, Lotta provides professional and high quality string arrangements for bands and musical ensembles. She has worked with producers such as Gavin Glass (Lisa Hannigan) and Colm O Foghlú (Mairead Nesbitt) and has written music for over dozen Irish and Scandinavian published artists.
