Liya Li (piano) was born in Uzbekistan in 1997 and started learning the piano at the Republican Specialized Musical Academic Lyceum. In January 2013, Liya joined The Purcell School where she studies piano with Tatiana Sarkissova. In 2010, Liya progressed to the final of the James Waterhouse Steinway Piano competition held at Lorreto School in Musselburgh, Scotland. In 2012, Liya took second prize in her category of her Regional Young Musician competition in Uzbekistan, having taking third prize the year before. At The Purcell School, Liya has taken part in many school concerts and masterclasses. In Spring 2014 she took part in a piano department project which teams up with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and will see performances at school, at Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy and at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. In 2015 she visited Royal Northern College of Music as a participant of Purcell School Piano Department, which took part in Russian Festival. Liya successfully performed in a recital at Milton Court, Barbican Centre, she also participated in Handel Festival at St Martins-in-the-Field. She was invited to perform in a concert dedicated to russian speaking young musicians, which was supported by 'RosSotrudnichestvo'. As well as exploring her solo potential Liya enjoys Chamber Music and Orchestral Piano. She has performed in prestigious places such as Wigmore Hall, LSO St. Luke's and participated in orchestras such as Purcell School Symphony Orchestra and Bushey Symphony Orchestra, performing in places such as Watford Coliseum and Royal Festival Hall. Liya is a member of The Purcell School Chamber Choir, with whom she has performed at Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral and St Albans Abbey. Liya has been offered a full scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland the following year.
