Saxophonist
Caldicot

Born in England and having grown up in Wales, Liv studied music performance in the UK, Norway and the Netherlands. She is an accomplished, up-and-coming saxophonist with a wide-breadth of experience spanning over a decade, and a music degree with honours. She has filmed as a saxophonist for the popular BBC series ‘Doctor Who’, as well as an upcoming feature film. Liv has also performed in such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall (New York), the Royal Albert Hall (London), Schouwburg Concertzaal (the Netherlands), BBC Hoddinott Hall (Wales) and Sardinen USF (Norway), as a member of various groups and orchestras. More recently, she has performed at hospitality venues and weddings throughout Norway, both solo and as a member of duos, trios and bands. Venues include Brian Boru Irish Pub, Stereo, Biblioteket Bar, Klee Kaffe and MM. She obtained a residency as part of a duo at at an Irish pub, and has performed and delivered workshops at cultural events. She is comfortable playing a wide variety of genres ranging from blues and soul to classical and pop, for easy-listening environments, or as the focal point of an upbeat setting. Liv is well-versed in performing as a part of function bands, big bands, classical quartets, orchestras and blues bands. FAQs What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at? I was filmed performing an improvised saxophone solo for an upcoming feature film. It was very exciting and I can't wait to watch it! What's your favourite type of event? I love playing at all sorts of events but parties are my favourite! The guests are always happy and it’s easy to get them dancing. What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging? I've been playing saxophone for 14 years, and started gigging when I finished my music degree in Wales. Since then, I’ve performed at various events and hospitality venues across the UK and Europe. Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time? When playing ambient background music, I'm most influenced by the likes of Paul Desmond and Otis Redding. Best song of all time - (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay by Otis himself. What are your typical setup and performance times? I arrive at least 1 hour before the performance to set up and make sure everything is good to go. I usually perform 2 x 45 minutes but can modify times to suit the event. Are you happy to perform outside? I'm more than happy to play outside, as long as there is a power supply close to the performance area, and shade depending on weather conditions. Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only? I have set repertoire lists, but I can learn specific songs if requested in advance. I am open to requests on the day, but cannot guarantee anything.
