Lisa Cassidy I Coloratura Soprano and Jazz Singer
Coloratura Soprano, Lisa Cassidy is known for her expressive and nuanced performances. Her versatile, rich toned voice allows her the pleasure of exploring music ranging from jazz to grand opera. She has sung under Jiří Bělohlávek, Ilan Volkov, Gregory Rose, Ramón Souto, Sharon Choa and many other vibrant conductors with appearances including a contemporary installation by the artist Grace Schwindt at the Museo de Arte Contemporánea de Vigo in Spain with Vertixe Sonora Ensemble; 'The Becker Project' which premiered new compositions by the composer Gordon Crosse; The William Alwyn Festival in Aldeburgh where she performed with violinist Fenella Humphries; Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Britten’s Spring Symphony in St Andrew’s Hall, Norwich; Will Todd's 'Mass in Blue' and multiple performances of Poulenc’s stunning opera ‘La voix humaine’. In 2015 Lisa was delighted to star in the new opera, ‘Lady Macbeth is dead’, which was written for her by composer Kenneth Ian Hÿtch and which she will perform again later this year for the Hostry Festival in Norwich. Lisa is a graduate at postgraduate level from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied under Judith Howarth. Previous to this she received a Distinction for her Masters Degree at University of East Anglia and was awarded the Dorothea and Rowan Hare Memorial Prize. Lisa has performed and studied with great artists including Malcolm Martineau, Sarah Walker, Julius Drake, Christian Gerhaher and Roger Vignoles. She is Britten Pears Young Artist and an alumna of the Oxford Lieder Mastercourse and the Live Music Now scheme. She currently studies with Ann de Renais and Christopher Glynn in London and performs Song, Oratorio, Opera, Baroque music and Jazz throughout Europe.
