Lewis Hammond is a countertenor from Maldon in Essex. Last year (2016-2017) he was a choral scholar at Chelmsford Cathedral where he received singing lessons from Colin Baldy and gained his DipABRSM in singing. Lewis has recently sung as the soloist in performances of Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St John Passion, St Matthew Passion, and the B minor Mass. He is now reading Music at New College, Oxford where he sings in the choir. He currently receives singing lessons from Bronwen Mills. In addition to his singing, Lewis has some experience in conducting orchestral and vocal music, including Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Nisi Dominus, Porpora’s Salve Regina in F, Marcello’s Oboe Concerto and a concert of solo Bach cantatas. He also plays the piano and the clarinet.
