Lesley Morson

Lesley Morson has been and still is a highly regarded and sought after freelancer since completing her undergraduate and postgraduate study at the Birmingham Conservatoire where she finished with distinction in 2006. A versatile doubler she has been fortunate to experience extensive orchestral playing including extra work with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, 2nd Oboe in The Sinfonia Stellaris, Principal and 2nd oboe in The Central England Camerata as well as working on many shows and operas; Notably playing at Longborough Opera in Siegfried as well as many shows like Cats and Miss Saigon. She was a finalist in the Conservatoire prize for woodwind and has appeared as a soloist with the Sinfonia of Birmingham, The Central England Ensemble and Queens Park Sinfonia performing The Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Martinu and Bach double concertos respectively. Lesley studied with George Caird, Jenni Philips, Edwin Roxburgh and John Anderson and took part on two residential courses in Greece and Italy with Nicholas Daniel. She is the founding member of Chimera, a recital group performing across the West Midlands, specialising in wedding repertoire. She is also a professional reed maker selling on Etsy#oboereedsbylesley. Lesley is a hard working, professional and loyal musician who will fit into any section or ensemble. With a flexible and open work ethic, she is friendly and personable. Classically trained she enjoys the orchestral set up but is equally in her element in a chamber ensemble, theatre pit or recording studio.
