Leonie graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, in 2018 where she read Natural Sciences (Chemistry). During her time at Cambridge she performed as principal flute in the Cambridge University Orchestra (CUO), Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra (CUCO) and CUMS Symphony Orchestra (CUMSSO). With these orchestras Leonie played under Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson, Jac van Steen, Peter Donohoe, Rory Macdonald, Peter Stark, Howard Shelley, Ben Glassberg, Paul Daniel, Stephen Cleobury and Patrick Bailey, in orchestral and chamber concerts, operas and contemporary exhibitions. She has previously received instrumental tuition from Daniel Pailthorpe (Co-principal BBC SO), Sarah O'Flynn (Britten Sinfonia) and Judith Hall (Orchestra of the Royal Opera House) and has performed as the soloist in concertos including the Reinecke and Doppler Double Flute Concertos. Prior to her time at Cambridge, Leonie was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studied for two years under the tutelage of Nicolas Bricht. An advocate of Baroque music, Leonie was invited to perform Vivaldi’s Flute Concerto in D Major whilst at the Guildhall, with the Brandenburg Baroque Soloists in St Martin-in-the-fields. During her final year, Leonie was also a finalist in the annual Junior Department's solo competition, the Lutine Prize. Leonie is grateful to the numerous charities and the government’s Music and Dance Scheme which generously supported her studies at the Guildhall. Now in London, Leonie regularly performs with the city's leading non-professional orchestras, most notably the Kensington Symphony Orchestra, Fidelio Cafe Orchestra, London City Philharmonic and London City Orchestra, many of which provide the opportunity to work with recent music college graduates entering the professional scene. Leonie welcomes all opportunities to collaborate with other high-standard non-professional musicians and has a particular interest in further orchestral playing and chamber music, as well as charitable work and supporting other musicians.
