Whether you're seeking to enhance your special day with the enchanting sounds of bagpipes or to learn the art yourself, Leman Piping promises a truly memorable experience. Yann Le Mouel began playing the bagpipe at the age of eight with the Bagad Combrit, learning under the guidance of Jean-Yves Herlédan and Erwan Ropars, two leading figures who greatly influenced his early musical development. He went on to perform with Bagad Fouesnant, Bagad Kemper, and later Bagad Cap Caval, continually refining his skills and deepening his connection to Breton music. In 2005 and 2006, Yann twice won the Botuha-Raud Trophy, awarded to the best piper under 20 years old — a milestone that marked both his dedication and his passion for traditional music. In 2008, he competed at the World Pipe Band Championships with the Australia Highlanders (Grade 1) under Pipe Major Danny Boyle, before moving to Melbourne for a year to continue his musical experience abroad. Upon returning in 2009, he reached the Grade 1 Final at the Worlds with the same band, achieving an impressive 4th place overall. More recently, in 2018 and 2019, he won two Brittany Championship titles with Bagad Cap Caval, confirming his commitment to excellence and musical precision. His musical development has also been guided by his mentor, Olivier Gourmelon, a major influence in his artistic journey. In June 2025, he took the stage with the Piping Orchestra at the Nha Trang Sea Festival in Vietnam, performing in front of more than 100,000 people. Yann delivers workshops and training sessions for the French Pipe Band Association. Yann also performs with other bands such as the Piping Orchestra, the Pipes and Drums of Geneva, Paris District Pipe Band, and Power of Lemania, where he serves as Pipe Sergeant. He has recently begun studying with renowned Scottish piper Donald MacKenzie, continuing his pursuit of musical excellence and development in the Highland piping tradition. Following this collaboration, he was crowned Swiss Champion in St. Gallen on May 2, 2026.
