Born in Prestwick, Scotland, Laura Williamson began her musical career aged 8 when she was given a cello by her local primary school. She attended the RCS junior department for seven years then spent two years at Chetham’s School of Music. Laura has performed with many orchestra’s including The West of Scotland School’s Symphony Orchestra, both in the section and as a soloist, The Orion Orchestra and The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britten, under the baton of conductors such as Sir Mark Elder and John Wilson. Her proudest musical achievements to date are Winning the Ailie Cullen Memorial Prize at the Glasgow Music festival and directing and arranging music for Prestwick Academy’s cello ensemble. She has also started exploring viol playing to broaden her musical awareness. Now she is a RCM Scholar supported by an Ella Carstairs Award at the Royal College of Music in London, studying with Raphael Wallfisch. In the future she aspires to work in

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed at many venues both in the UK and internationally! My favorite venues so far have been; The Royal Albert Hall Wembley Arena The Savoy Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Elounda Beach, Crete Saint Petersburg Grand Hall, Russia Basilica of Saint Denis, Paris Evangelische Stadtkirche Monschau, Germany

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I have performed with Brit Awards Rising stars of 2024 'The last Dinner Party' at the Roundhouse and as a soloist with Iranian pop star Shadmehr Aghili at the Wembley Arena. They were both amazing experiences!

Do you have different line-up options?

I can perform alone or with backing track. I also perform regularly as a string ensemble (duo, trio & quartet) and with piano, harp, guitarist, vocalist or DJ. I work with only the best musicians around!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I try to be as flexible as possible so please let me know as soon as the timings change and I will do my best to accommodate!

How much time do you need to set up?

I like around 1 hour set up time to be comfortable, but I can be quicker if there is less time available.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I usually suggest you choose a genre and I can create a bespoke playlist for your event, however I'm very happy for you to choose specific songs from my repertoire list! I'm very happy to be flexible with whatever suits you!

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I will bring all music related equipment. All I require from a venue is a chair!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I’m always happy to learn something new for your event! Three song requests are included in my Wedding Ceremony Package.
