Lara Rebekah Harvey is a critically-acclaimed classical and opera singer whose singing has taken her all over the world. Lara has had the honour of singing to King Charles III, as well as other British and Saudi royalty, and has appeared as featured soloist at the Royal Albert Hall, The Classic Brit Awards, The Royal Variety Performance, and the Royal Festival Hall. About Lara Lara’s love for performing began aged 10 when she starred as the young Jane Austen for BBC1 and as Darwin’s Daughter in the series of the same name for Channel Four. A member of Sylvia Young’s Theatre School, Lara went on to win a scholarship in music and drama at Millfield School. It was while at school that Lara’s musical journey began; she won a place in the National Youth Choir of Great Britain before taking up a scholarship at the Royal Northern College of Music. It was during her studies in classical and opera singing that Lara became a member of Genesis Sixteen, the elite training choir for internationally-acclaimed choral group The Sixteen conducted by Harry Christophers. Soon after, Lara toured with the nation’s favourite choirmaster, Gareth Malone, released two chart-topping albums with Decca, and appeared on The One Show, This Morning, and Children in Need Rocks. Towards the end of her studies, Lara appeared as soloist for three performances at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Marines Massed Bands. She was also a finalist in both the Frederic Cox Award and The Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss. Other performance highlights for Lara include singing as soloist at St Paul’s Cathedral, Notre Dame, Westminster Abbey, Duomo di Milano, Alnwick Castle, Claridge’s, The Savoy, The Bridgewater Hall, and recording two albums conducted and composed by John Rutter. A recent notable performance for Lara was singing in front of 10,000 people at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham for the featherweight boxing world championship title. Lara has sung with many opera companies, most notably Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Opera Holland Park, Wexford Festival Opera and Longborough Festival Opera. She has also featured as one of Country Life magazine’s ‘Girls in Pearls’. Lara is a soloist for Lost Chord, a charity that brings professional musicians into care homes, giving interactive concerts to people suffering with dementia.
