Laonikos studied Composition at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2011 with a BMus Hons. He spent the next years working as a freelance music workshop leader and composer, including as part of Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning and Sibelius Academy. He went on to do a Masters in Global Music (MMus GLOMAS) in Sibelius Academy, graduating in 2016. Laonikos has been playing the shakuhachi since 2015, and is an experienced improviser and composer.

Laonikos performed a terrific set of traditional folk (min'yo) and monastic (honkyoku) pieces at a livestreamed concert as part of Making Tracks Digital Edition residency and tour in summer 2020.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try to be as flexible as possible but will need as much notice in order to accommodate any requests to change details in order to guarantee availability.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Sure, if you have PPL licensing in place.

How much time do you need to set up?

30 minutes to play acoustic, 45 minutes to connect to a PA.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Of course, and I would be happy to have a chat and discuss what would work best for your setup.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

It depends on timings and the request - please inquiry on a case by case basis.
