Kristiina Watt

Lutenist and soprano Kristiina Watt is currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with William Carter/David Miller. Prior to her current studies she trained as a guitarist with Prof. Allan Neave at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland continuing on the historical performance course at the RCS/University of Glasgow where she studied with Jamie Akers (lute) and Dr.Patricia MacMahon (voice). Kristiina has performed with a number of highly acclaimed orchestras such as The Academy of Ancient Music, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and The English Concert. In 2021 summer she was involved both as a theorbo player and singer in the Brighton Early Music Festival’s concert and a film version of Francesca Caccini’s ‘La liberazione di Ruggiero dall’Isola d’Alcina’. In September 2021 she was featured in a CD recording for Delphian with ensemble Spiritato of works from the 17th century Düben collection. Kristiina is also a singer and has been fortunate to study with Dame Emma Kirkby at various masterclasses at the Dartington International Summer School, love:Handel festival in Norwich and as part of her studies at the Guildhall School. Her particular interest as a singer is the performance of self-accompanied lute song. As a chorister she has held scholarships at the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus and University of Glasgow Chapel Choir. Kristiina performs regularly with soprano Héloïse Bernard in the duo Cordes en Ciel which is a part of the Live Music Now scheme.
