Kristian Bressington

Music has been the main focus ever since I was young - it's something that feels natural to me, and it's why I care so much about giving my best performance, no matter the gig. I received a BA(HONS) in professional musicianship (drums) from the Bristol Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) in 2017 and since then I've been gigging professionally with various function bands, original artists and doing studio sessions. I also teach drums, allowing me to study styles such as; Pop, Jazz, Funk, Reggae and various others. Weddings have been the dominant setting for a lot of my performances however, growing in Bristol has let me perform on stages such as The Exchange, Thekla, The Louisiana and Crofters Rights with my original band SunSpot supporting acts such as; JAWS and Pizzagirl. Alongside my function playing, I also enjoy creating music with original artists and being called in for studio sessions. I thrive in scenarios that require me to think on my feet, which is why I've been drawn to playing and studying Jazz music. Even with this, I still gravitate towards Pop music - Pop music is the real test, specifically on your musical ability and character... you can express yourself in so many ways but the goal is to never play for yourself, it's about the song and what the song needs. I consider myself somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to performing/writing/teaching - whatever it may be, it needs to sound good. Ultimately, it needs to be fun - music is an enjoyable experience to do with friends (or even strangers!) which is why I like to keep situations light and comfortable but also professional. Having an interest in not just the drums, but guitar and theory in general, I enjoy working with bands/artists to create the best possible version of the song, working together as a team is a big part of being a musician.
