Kojo is a North West-based guitarist and vocalist with more than 25 years of gigging experience. Rooted in jazz, funk and soul, Kojo's sets mix catchy originals with fresh, feel-good reworks of classic songs, which suit everything from a laid-back drinks reception to a packed dance floor. Why music? For Kojo it has always been about the connection with an audience: that moment when a room full of people who arrived as strangers start singing along together. Every set is built around creating that feeling, whether it's a relaxed afternoon in a beer garden or the last dance at a wedding. Kojo's live career began on the stage of the Comedy Store in Manchester, one of the toughest rooms in the city, where you learn very quickly how to win over a crowd and hold their attention. From there the bookings grew through word of mouth into a busy diary of bars, restaurants, private parties, weddings and corporate events right across the region. Over the years Kojo has held a string of residencies at venues across the North West, including Revolution de Cuba in Liverpool, and has played countless weddings, private parties, corporate functions and band nights. That experience shows in every booking: arriving on time, setting up quietly, reading the room and adjusting the set to keep guests happy. Volume, pace and song choice are always pitched to the occasion, so conversation can flow during dinner and the energy can lift when it's time to dance. Alongside performing, Kojo is also an experienced music teacher, working in schools and with private pupils. Teaching keeps the musicianship sharp and the repertoire broad, and it means Kojo is relaxed, friendly and easy to work with on the day, whether that's chatting with guests, taking requests or working around a busy event schedule. As a solo act Kojo needs only a small space and a single power socket, so it works in bars, restaurants, gardens and smaller venues, as well as ceremonies and drinks receptions. For bigger events, Kojo also performs as a duo, trio or full band, giving you the flexibility to scale the music to your guest list, venue and budget. All equipment is professional and well maintained, and Kojo carries public liability insurance for peace of mind.
