Kira McDaniel is a cellist from Seattle, WA. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from Western Washington University, Bellingham WA. She has studied the cello and private teaching methods with Page Smith in Seattle, and currently with Dr. John Friesen at WWU.
She has performed in masterclasses of internationally-known cellists Lynn Harrell, Joshua Roman, Johannes Moser, Steven Thomas and Jussi Makkonen, as well as the up-and-coming Friction Quartet. She has been taking private lessons for over 9 years, and has performing professionally in pit orchestras in Bellingham, Everett, Mount Vernon, and Seattle since 2012. She also has a private teaching studio at Allegro Strings in Bellingham, with expertise in teaching students from children to adults, from beginners to advanced.
Throughout her undergraduate degree, she performed with the Western Washington University Symphony Orchestra, the WWU Composers of Western Scholarship Quartet, and the WWU String Orchestra as principal and soloist, as well as with many chamber groups, both classical and contemporary. She has received many scholarships throughout high school and her undergraduate degree for her playing and dedication to music.
