Kingsfolk has been providing quality music for ceilidhs and barn dances for more than 13 years. Our typical line-up includes accordion, violin, drums and bass, and we have a busy diary of events which include weddings, birthday parties and fundraising events. The traditional folk tunes we play are described as full-on and vibrant. It is just the kind of sound to liven up a party and get people onto the dance floor.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

It is inevitable that schedules have to be adjusted at the last minute and we will always try and fit in with whatever the host wants on the night. If there is a good atmosphere at the time we are due to finish we will often play for a bit longer, but if the party finishes more than half an hour after the agreed time, we may charge extra.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, when we have set up our equipment we usually play appropriate music on an iPod. We also have a selection of Irish and Scottish music which we play during the break.

How much time do you need to set up?

Provided we have access to the performance space, we only need about half and hour to set everything up. We may then spend between 10 - 15 minutes sound checking the instruments. We try to arrive about an hour and a half before the ceilidh is due to start, to make sure we have time to set up properly.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes, we always include a caller when we go to an event. The people who call the dances are all members of Kingsfolk and they are very experienced at engaging with people and making them feel at ease. The will walk-through the dances so that everyone will know what to do.

It was wonderful, they played beautifully. the caller made everything very clear. They were very polite and punctual, communication with me was good. The whole experience was lovely from start to finish. I would definitely hire them again , they made everyone feel so relaxed and we all had such fun, I am so glad I picked kigsfolk out of all the ceilidh bands to play at my husbands birthday party. I highly recommend them. Thankyou so much to all the band and caller for helping to make my party what it was, without you it wouldn’t have been the same.

Simon and the band were absolutely wonderful. They played so well at our wedding and created the best atmosphere. We weren't sure if the venue was big enough for a ceilidh and Simon was kind enough to visit in his own time to check the size and help us decide how the layout should be. We would really highly recommend Kingsfolk :)

There can't be many wedding venues that are so delightfully romantic as that lovely old barn at Stanlake Park! It was a real treat for the band to play for such an exciting wedding. The sound system provided by the venue was unfamiliar to us, but once we sorted it out, we really enjoyed playing for such a lively crowd.
