About Kieran

A London based classical guitarist playing classical, jazz and pop tunes. Perfect for weddings, anniversary parties and corporate events.
Classical Guitarist

Verified profile

Kieran Gunter is a solo guitarist who performs classical repertoire as well as his own bespoke arrangements of jazz, pop and world music. He is frequently requested to play at events such as wedding ceremonies/reception, corporate events and special occasions such as proposals, Valentine’s events and anniversary celebrations. In recent times he has performed for events at Harrods, The Savoy and Marylebone Town Hall amongst many others. Kieran is a self-contained act and so arrives seamlessly at any event with minimal setting-up time and minimal disruption to the rest of the event. Clients only have to provide an armless chair or stool, a space 2x2 meters square and for there to be a single plug within 50 meters if performing amplified. He can either perform through a large PA system (up to 250 guests), a smaller PA system (up to 50) or perform fully acoustically. Performances can be indoors or outdoors (weather permitting of course). Any quote from Kieran on Encore contains the full performance fee and travel cost but doesn’t include any potential song request fees. Kieran prides himself on clear communication with his clients and maintaining high levels of organisation. Set list, timings and emergency contact details are agreed and exchanged as far as possible out from the gig and consequently, performances from Kieran consistently run without any problems. Popular packages of Kieran booked by previous clients include wedding ceremony only (30 minutes), wedding ceremony and reception (30 + 90 minutes) and finally wedding ceremony, reception and breakfast (30 + 90 + 45 minutes). For corporate/private events, 1x60 minute, x2 45 minute and 3 x 45 minute are his most frequently booked. By booking Kieran, you will be getting high-quality guitar music that will softly resonate around your event space, adding a touch of class and sense of occasion. He can easily take song requests from clients, provided it can be realistically performed on the guitar – recent examples of learnt requests include Harvest Moon (Neil Diamond) and We’ve Only Just Begun (The Carpenters). Kieran began playing the guitar at a young age and consequently doesn’t really know what a life without playing guitar feels like! Over 20 year later after starting he’s still yet to find anything he enjoys doing more than that. Notable musicians he has performed with include Marc Almond (Soft Cell), Sophie Evans (Wicked) and Liane Carroll (BBC Jazz Awards Best Vocalist). By booking him, guests at your event will appreciate the music as it softly states familiar melodies to their ears. Sometimes it will relax them whilst other times it will get their toes tapping. Other times still it may just remind them of a good holiday they once went on and put a smile on their face!

We had the absolute pleasure of having Kieran play at our wedding, and we couldn't have been more impressed. His guitar playing was absolutely beautiful and added such a special ambiance to our day. From the moment we reached out, Kieran was professional, communicative, and made the whole process so easy. He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and gave us set lists via email to review, and his music on the day was perfect. We received so many compliments from our guests about the music, and we would highly recommend Kieran to anyone looking to add something truly special to their event!

Thank you Katie. It was a beautiful occasion and thank goodness those massive downpours had passed by the time of your wedding.

Thank you kindly Sherrise. It was most nice of you to insist that the football match be watched without sound and my guitar be the soundtrack instead to what was a very tense room!

I cannot recommend Kieran more highly! He is an absolute professional who made contact with me well ahead of the event to collect all the relevant information including event schedule and music preferences, and ensure all arrangements are in place. On the day, Kieran was superb! Not only is he a wonderfully talented musician who was greatly appreciated by guests (indeed, several commented that they want to hire Kieran for events in the future!), but he was reliable, punctual, and was kind enough to even play a bit longer when our DJ ran late (thank you again, the DJ did turn up eventually). Our wedding celebration was greatly enhanced by having Kieran there and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to all my family and friends.

We hosted an outdoor, pre-wedding welcome party at a restaurant in Cambridge, England. We met Kieran Ferreira via Pop-Top as we live in Denver, Colorado. We found Kieran very easy to work with and extremely professional. He communicated with the restaurant to firm up logistics and arrived promptly with all the necessary gear. He reached out to us well in advance of our function to work with us on song selection and even enquired about how he should dress. His playing was a wonderful addition to our event. We would highly recommend his services to anyone. We did struggle a bit with the poptop website, I believe, in part because we are in the states, but Kieran helped us through those challenges along with their support team.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

That I am right up close and personal to them when I play. There's very little of the "us and them" attitude that can often exist between a performer and the audience. I'm very comfortable with you coming and standing near to me and see my fingers at work if you so want to!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

A recent selection include: Leeds Town Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Zedel Brasserie, Allerton Castle, Wakefield Cathedral, Theatre Royal Wakefield, Carriageworks Theatre, Saffron Walden Hall, Churnet Valley Railway.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Too many to name, but off the top of my head: Maria Schneider, The Impossible Gentlemen, Ralph Towner, A.C. Jobim, Dori Caymmi.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I have performed with Marc Almond to a sold out Royal Festival Hall.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

This is normally not a problem and I will try to be as flexible as possible. If you are aware of a change to your timings, please do let me know as soon as possible though.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Playing recorded music between sets is a service I am happy to provide on top free of charge.

How much time do you need to set up?

Once all my equipment is in the room it takes me just under 10 minutes to set it up, provided there are no unexpected hitches with the room. To unload everything from my car usually takes 3 runs, so distance from my car to the performing area can affect the load-in time and therefore the total set up time from arriving at the venue.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

If you have a really strong idea of what you would like to me play and in what order then I am happy to oblige. However, I will always offer my advise so as to ensure the musical programme has some shape and is not just totally random! To ensure high musical quality please give me as much notice as possible if you want a bespoke setlist.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes. All I require from my clients is a space that is two by two meters minimum, a chair (must be without arms) or stool and to be within ten meters of a plug socket. If you are wishing for me to perform outdoors and the nearest plug socket is more than ten meters away I will need you to provide a long extension cable.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, provided it can suitably be arranged for solo guitar. Happily, the instrument is surprisingly versatile so it is more likely doable than not. Prices per special request: Less than a week's notice: £30 Between 1-4 week's notice: £15 More than a month: Free of charge
