About Kezia

Classical and opera singer. I will work with you to help make your event extra special, whatever the occasion!
Singer (soprano)
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Kezia started her musical career as a violinist when she was 2 and a half years old but has since found that singing is her true passion. After obtaining a 1st class degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Durham University she went on to do a MA in music at Birmingham University and then a Postgraduate vocal performance course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. Kezia is a coloratura soprano which means she can sing a wide range of fun and exciting music. She has a large volume of repertoire, from opera and operetta to musicals and sacred church music, but she especially enjoys singing Italian and French arias and Handel’s beautiful music. Her dog, ‘Fingal’ is very musical too and loves to sing with her when she sings or plays the piano at home! Fortunately, he will be quiet when asked to so she can practice and learn her music. Kezia has performed in many different events, including staged operas, concerts, dinner occasions, garden parties, and church services. She can tailor her performances for a wide variety of clients and audiences from events aimed at children (for example, she has performed for the Young V & A Summer Festival and has experience teaching performing arts to young children), to making a party or event stand out and getting the celebrations started, to more solemn occasions such as memorials and funerals. Career highlights include playing the title role in The Merry Widow and singing its well known aria ‘Villja’, which is one of her mums favourite pieces of music. Other recent operatic roles include Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen and Adele in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. In terms of oratorio and sacred music she has been soprano soloist for great works such as Faure’s Requiem, Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio and Mozart’s Litaniae Lauretanae. Kezia also enjoys singing new and lesser-known music; this last year she has covered the role of Emily Brontë in Lisa Logans opera premiere of Brontë for the Grimeborn Festival in London and she has also recorded some of the newly discovered music of Eliza Flower for Electric Voice Theatre. Whatever your event, Kezia would love to work with you to come up with the right repertoire for your vision.

Working with Kezia was very easy and enjoyable, she gave the most perfect fit in a short time and went through all the difficult music very efficiently. Even Chinese, an oriental language that she has never experienced before, which is completely different from the western language system, she is capable of learning and mastering it. She has an effortless and absolutely precise coloratura technique and a unique bright vocal texture. Watching her performance, It's very easy to be convinced that she is the character herself. Her professionalism is admirable and she is always ready to surprise audience. She is the perfect stage partner.

We have been delighted to work with Kezia on a most unusual project – making virtual recordings for our online websites (https://www.electricvoicetheatre.co.uk/flower-of-the-month/) for our Eliza Flower Project – bringing back to life the extraordinary music of this prolific and very popular Victorian composer whose work disappeared into the misogyny of history. Kezia worked hard and promptly to create the recordings we needed – no small feat finding the right situation at home to get the best sound with a phone while trying to listen to click tracks and perform with the knowledge of what the rest of the team were doing – so we were able in one case to create an ensemble piece and in the other she brilliantly followed a piano track – very closely and sensitively interpreting the dynamics and general feel of the song. We have enjoyed working with Kezia and hope to do so in the future.
