Katie, a soprano from Bristol has loved singing since childhood. She began as a chorister at St John's, Keynsham and continued learning as a chorister in the Bristol Cathedral Consort. She now loves performing opera and art song as well as singing within an ensemble. Whilst living in Bristol, Katie has been a committed member of St John's Choir, Bristol Cathedral Consort and she joined the Bristol Opera Company in 2014. Whilst at Canterbury Christ Church University, she was a member of the Chamber Choir, Chapel Choir, the prestigious student ensemble Apollo, Harmony 6 an acapella vocal group,and Canterbury Cantata Trust Choir.Katie is now a member of RWCMD chamber choir and BBC National Chorus of Wales. Katie has been a soprano soloist for Schubert's Mass in G, Bach's St Johns Passion, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Mozart's Coronation Mass, Haydn's Missa Cellensis and Britten's Ceremony of Carols. She also enjoyed her solo roles in both Rutter's Requiem and Fauré's Requiem, and played Mrs Sem in Britten's Noyes Fludde. Katie also enjoys performing in recitals, for example at Bristol Cathedral and is looking forward to singing in The New Bristol Room, John Wesley's Chapel in Bristol. Katie has been awarded a variety of scholarships. She has received two from the CCCU's Chapel Choir and the Elizabeth Vogan Memorial scholarship given to students who make outstanding progress. Katie has gained a Canterbury arts scholarship which is awarded after audition to promising performers. In November 2015, Katie came second place in Music in the Vale Young Singer of the Year Competition. Katie enjoys singing teaching both 1-1 and classes'; she recently has had training to become a teacher in 'The Singing Tree', which run music classes for children around Bristol. Katie graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University gaining a 2.1 BMus(Hons). She was awarded a 1.1 in performance, being taught under Michelle Harris. Katie has completed her PGDip in Vocal Performance at the RWCMD under Gail Pearson and Sharon Richards. Her future goals include teaching, performing and working within music therapy.
