New York Dollies are Brighton-based Li Mills, Heather Urquhart and Kate Holder. Dressed in vintage 50s style with moves to match and accompanied simply by a ukulele, the Dollies sing punk and new wave covers in crazy doo-wop arrangements. The result is unique, unexpected and hilarious. The three met recently when Li, who arranges and directs for Jam Tarts Indie Choir, joined forces with fellow Jam Tart Kate to create a polished act based on new arrangements of her favourite music. Award winning comedian, Heather, of the Maydays and the Treason Show provided the perfect third member particularly after revealing her ukulele playing skills….all three share a love of cake and posh 50s dresses.
