Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
The atmosphere. People tell me the music made the room feel calm and special without ever taking it over. I have a soft touch, I listen to the space, and I never play over conversation. And because everything is my own music, guests often ask what they were listening to, because they haven't heard it anywhere before.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
My performing has ranged from an international festival recital and masterclass in Italy to private events, alongside my studio work in places like Abbey Road and Master Chord Studio in London as part of my screen-music career. I'm now bringing my own music to weddings, dinners and venues across London.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
Ludovico Einaudi above all, for how much feeling lives in simple, beautiful playing. Beyond him, film composers like Thomas Newman and Alexandre Desplat shaped my cinematic side, and my classical training from age eight gave me the foundations. The result is music that's romantic, soothing and quietly cinematic.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
A festival in Italy invited me to perform a recital of my own piano music and lead a public masterclass on my composing. In my day job, my biggest stage is of a different kind: I'm a music editor on BBC's Call the Midwife, heard by millions each week. As a performer, I bring that same standard into the room.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
That's normal with events, and I stay flexible. If timings shift in the run-up, just message me and we'll adjust. On the day itself I arrive with margin, so small changes are never a problem.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
I can put on a calm playlist through the venue's sound system between sets if that helps keep the atmosphere going. I don't offer a DJ service though. My focus is live piano, and I keep the whole evening in that world.
How much time do you need to set up?
Very little. I perform on your venue's piano, so I just need a few minutes to settle in and warm up before guests arrive.
If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?
Yes, gladly. A real piano is always my first choice. As long as it's in working order and reasonably in tune, I'll make it sound beautiful.
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
What I play is my own music: neoclassical, cinematic, in the spirit of Einaudi. So there isn't a covers set list to pick from. What we do instead is talk before the event about the mood you want, and I shape the music to it. Calmer here, warmer there. You choose the feeling, I take care of the music.
Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?
No, I perform on the piano at your venue, so a working, reasonably in-tune piano is needed for the booking. If you're unsure what your venue has, just ask them or send me a photo and I'll tell you if it works.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
My performances are my own original music rather than covers, and that's what people book me for. For something truly special, like a piece that matters to you for a ceremony moment, talk to me. Depending on the piece, I may arrange it in my own style for an additional fee.
