This includes music before the service begins, music during the signing of the register, and music as guests leave.
We can offer traditional Scottish, English or Irish folk music. We usually do this part as a duet with the melodeon and fiddle. If you want something extra special like a waltz, there may be a possibility of having a special tune written for you - we can discuss this. This option can include the Great Highland Bagpipes.

Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
We are just so full of energy! We 100% guarantee everyone will be up and dancing with us 😁
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Lots! Too many to list on here individually!
Gunnersbury Park Museum, London
The Guildhall, Cambridge
Many gorgeous wedding venues from large halls to smaller marquees
Lots of local village halls & pubs ❤️
We are perfect for every single venues, as long as there's some space to dance!
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
(Kathryn - band leader) The most influential & inspiring folk musicians are actually in the band! 😍
I absolutely love working with so many talented musicians and we have some big names that work with us on a regular basis including Tom Kitching, Martin Clarke & Jon Loomes, just to name a few! We have only the very best line ups for our KJ CEILIDHS ❤️
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
That's a hard question! Every ceilidh is high profile to us, because every single ceilidh - big or small - is so important to us. We just want to have a good time and get everyone up and dancing, no matter which venue we're performing at, or who we're playing for! Having fun & dancing is universal so we can't really rank that into a "highest profile" order!
Can you perform covers?
We often sing folky covers. Our Irish sets are really popular with songs such as Tell Me Ma, The Wild Rover and The Rattlin' Bog, just to name a few. They get everyone joining in!
Do you have different line-up options?
Yes! Our standard line-up includes 3 musicians (always including Kathryn Johnstone) & one of our amazing callers.
You can upgrade to a 5 piece band for a fuller sound (please see our add ons for more info). For a smaller budget, we are also available as a duet, or Kathryn can provide a strong solo lead as a top melodeon player and award winning bagpiper.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free. If you'd like a DJ service via our PA after the final set until the venue closes, we provide this for an additional £100. Please see our add ons for more information about what this includes!
How much time do you need to set up?
We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!
Do you provide a caller?
Yes we do! We work with some of the most amazing & callers that you'll often find calling at all the best folk festivals around the country. Just let us know whether you already have one, or don't need one, so we can adjust our line-up accordingly!
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.
Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?
Yes! Our PA system is included in your quote.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
