Just Two are a husband and wife duo who met while working on a cruise ship in 2019. They both have completely different performance backgrounds, but are united by their love of creating music of all styles. Just Two was formed in late 2021 by guitar vocalist Cassandra Mathews and percussionist Rodrigo Gentillon. Their idea was to create the sound of a full band, but without the need for cumbersome equipment. All the music which they play is 100% live, so there are no prerecorded elements, tracks or loop stations. They use a setup of predominantly guitar and cajon (a flamenco percussion instrument) and create their own versions of popular songs which can be adapted to suit any occasion! Cassandra is a classically trained guitarist who graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2014, and has since been performing internationally in both luxury hotels and cruise ships. Her vocal style is both relaxed and pure, and she is comfortable singing a wide range of repertoire. Rodrigo grew up in Chile and graduated from the Escuela Moderna in Santiago as a drummer. He has since performed in numerous projects spanning various genres, from jazz and rock, to cumbia and pop. They may be from different worlds, but Just Two are living proof that love and music conquers all!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

They often tell us that we are very easy to listen to. Comment such as: "I could listen to you two all day!", are very common for us. They also love the twists that we take on classics - Karma Chameleon done with a Reggae beat is one of our favourites!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have had a 5 month residency on the beautiful Sky Princess cruise ship since 2021!. Before that we were working as soloists and in bands all over the world!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We both come from different backgrounds, so it is hard to choose one artist which unites us. It may be a cliche, but we both adore The Beatles! We admire their innovation and ability to spread joy through music throughout the world. We've seen firsthand on cruise ships how their music brings people of all ages, races and backgrounds together.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes! We normally operate as a guitar and cajon duo (both singing), but we can also come as a piano and singer duo if you want something softer. We also offer guitar and drum kit, as well as solo piano and solo guitar options too. The choice is yours!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Not a problem at all. We appreciate that life is full of surprises and if you need to change timings then we understand. Please inform us as soon as you can and we will do our best to accommodate your new timings.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

This depends on the setup which you decide upon (solo performances will require less time). Typically we require about 30-45 minutes to make sure everything is absolutely perfectly in position for your event.

Can you roam around while you perform?

I'm afraid that due to the nature of our instruments, we are not able to move around while performing.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We will always discuss playlist options with clients before the event. This gives us the chance to make sure that there is a healthy balance between what you want, and what we feel will be appropriate for the event. Of course we will always pay attention to the room e.g. if we find out that someone is a big Tom Jones fan, then we can include this in our set!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA is included, but unfortunately we do not have lighting.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

100% yes!
