I grew up surrounded by a great family of singers and music lovers, beginning piano studies from aged 7 and appearing in my first solo public performance aged 11 in Preston Working Men’s Club! After training to postgraduate level as a singer/pianist I formed my first jazz band in the '90s from a pool of talented musicians on the BA Hons Music Degree Course at Kingston University London and have subsequently recorded and toured the UK whilst producing 4 acclaimed albums (2 pop/rock/original/world-influenced cds and 2 jazz cds featuring top UK artists including John Horler, Tony Coe and Alec Dankworth) As well as jazz/soul/blues/funk/latin, my brilliant musicians and I love performing pop, rock, folk-rock, country, acoustic music- in fact, if it's beautiful music we just love more or less anything and everything!! Each band member brings his or her own particular expertise whether we're playing for smaller or larger venues, private or public events...we've all played in large stately homes (think Stourhead and the like) and smaller more intimate bars, pubs and clubs, together with the more established jazz venues including Ronnie Scotts, Pizza Express Knighstsbridge & Dean St & numerous UK jazz venues & Arts Centres/theatres. If you ask us to do special requests we're more than happy to oblige - usually beforehand where possible but on occasions even on the night wherever we can! Always professional and reliable, we take your business seriously and aim to make your event unforgettably great bringing our top class music to you and your guests.

We were looking for jazz music to help us celebrate my Dad's life at the event after the crematorium. We wanted to put the swing into the event, and have the music to do this which reflected my dad's music preferences. Julie was extremely empathetic and accommodating. Keeping the communication flowing and picking the right music for the occasion. She was very understanding and accommodating. The music was excellent and I highly recommend Julie and saxophonist Ben for a tribute we will always remember. When we arrived at the event, Julie was set up, the music was playing and we had lots of lovely comments about it.

Julie worked with us before the night to produce a fantastic set that suited our joint 60th birthday party perfectly. Then, on the night, Julie and the band performed the set beautifully. The dance floor was full from start to finish, and many of our guests remarked how much they had enjoyed the music. Julie and the band helped make our party a truly memorable evening. I'll certainly recommend her to any friends who need a band!

Do you have different line-up options?

I can offer a variety of options/line-ups as follows: Duo - myself on Vocals/keys/percussion + Double Bass/Guitar or Sax/Violin Trio - as above but with 2 other instruments Quartet - as above with 3 other instruments (drums?) Quintet - as above with 4 other instruments/drums or myself on vocals leading the band with another pianist 6+ - options tbc

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I am flexible and happy to accommodate my clients wherever possible if timings need to change after the initial booking is made. However It would be much appreciated if communication is maintained at all times and then I can ensure my musicians and I are fully informed as things progress.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We are happy to play your own playlist (from your phone or tablet) connected to our PA in our breaks and/or beforehand. No problem!

How much time do you need to set up?

Our usual set up time generally takes about an hour. Sometimes this might be a little longer if requirements are more complex, but 1 hour is generally sufficient. If required we can play some background music whilst setting up which helps to set the tone and prepare the audience for our live sets. Please ask if this is of interest.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Currently not in our general live performances. Having said this, there may be an option of voice & guitar or violin/sax/trumpet performing in a "roaming" capacity - please ask me and perhaps this can be arranged!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

I am totally happy to discuss clients' choice of songs for their events as long as these are suitable for my voice/our ensemble. There are many more songs we can perfom than those that are currently up on our songlists, so please do feel free to ask me anything and select songs of your choice accordingly. Always happy to discuss options!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes - PA and Lighting all included in our quote. In general the larger the group the more space we will require - to be discussed when booking us.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Absolutely! I am/my band are probably one/some of the fastest learners in the world but would appreciate a reasonable amount of notice in advance. Happy to factor in particular requests with a Skype call and modest surcharge to accommodate extra rehearsal time - please see price guides section.
